Biografia
Gerta Hameli (born in Prizren, Kosovo, in 2001) is a visual artist. She spent most of her life outside of the country, first living in Montenegro and then North Macedonia, where she was taught to paint at a gallery at the age of 15.
This early foundation led to her graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in fine arts-painting from the University of Pristina, “Hasan Prishtina”, choosing to stay close to her roots. Now she is attending the second year of her Master’s degree in Painting and Digital Art at Accademia Di Como-Aldo Galli.
She had her first solo show in October of 2024, in Tetovo at “Social Cultural Space Tetova”, where she displayed a selection of her works done during her Bachelors. In 2025 she participated in an Open Studio at Careof, in The Fabbrica Del Vapore, in Milan, completing her first artist residency. Her work has been featured in five collective exhibitions, in the cities of Como (IT), Tirana (AL), Pristina (RKS), Tetovo (NMK) and three university shows.
Artist Statement:
I want to give voice to my reality, a reality made by the channelization of my memories, my identity.
It starts with an observation, a presence I attempt to give shape, a moment I deeply feel that reality.
With vulnerability and sensitivity, I aim to speak to the remaining threads connecting the past, a past that shows through the unresolved cracks of my work, not letting me forget any colors or self.
