Daniel Borgonovi Pretto (b. Brazil) is a visual artist based in Ireland. Born and raised in Brazil, he has been drawing since childhood and began painting in 2019. Self-taught, his practice developed outside a traditional fine art route, grounded in intuition and the gradual expansion of a limited conceptual framework into a distinctive visual language. Working primarily with oil and acrylic painting, his work is informed by film, literature, folklore, and personal memory, shaping both his subjects and the psychological or mythic spaces they inhabit. Alongside painting, he works with drawing and digital media, and continues to explore sculpture and animation as ways of extending his practice.He holds a Bachelor of Law from Universidade do Sul de Santa Catarina (UNISUL), Brazil, with a focus on criminology and gender studies, an academic background that continues to inform his artistic concerns around identity, masculinity, and transformation.
