Biografia

I am an artist based in East Lothian, Scotland, currently completing a second undergraduate degree in Contemporary Art Practice at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, University of Dundee. I previously studied Mediaeval History and Film Studies at the University of St Andrews. My academic background informs my art practice through an ongoing interest in human narratives and visual storytelling. Studying mediaeval history fostered a curiosity about lived experience across time, while film naturally influences my approach to making, in guiding how I construct scenes, use light, and consider the viewer’s gaze. It has also been integral to how I choose composition, colour, and framing and my understanding of how they can evoke certain emotions and convey complex narratives.

I work across painting and print, primarily in oil paint and cyanotype. Using bright colour and close attention to light, my practice explores how people, places, and everyday materials are shaped by perception, memory, and process. Moving between landscapes, still life, figurative work and experimental photographic printing, I draw on personal experience while reflecting on the shared human experience and the ways we inhabit the world around us.
