The memories of a distant youth are burning, the memories of my daughter’s voice are burning.
I can see, yet I am blind, and I slowly fade away along with the world around me.

In this series of photographs, the process of alteration and fragmentation of memory in Alzheimer’s disease is depicted. The gradual death of nerve cells, especially in the hippocampus, disrupts synaptic transmission, causing the loss of recent memories, the relative preservation of older ones, and cognitive disorientation.

The artist’s face appears barely visible, then gradually emerges, as if burned.
