Biografia
Peter Hediger is a Swiss abstract artist working primarily with acrylic on paper.
His practice explores processes of compression, transformation and release. Through layered gestures, shifting colour relationships and dense accumulations of marks, his paintings investigate states of tension that exist before stable forms emerge.
Working intuitively yet with a strong awareness of structure and movement, Hediger develops each painting in a single session. Rather than depicting external subjects, his works focus on energy, pressure, rhythm and the dynamic interaction of colour. Areas of density, disruption and openness coexist within the same image, creating visual environments that invite multiple readings.
Colour plays a central role in his practice, not as decoration but as a carrier of emotional and physical intensity. Contrasts, transparencies and layered surfaces generate spaces that oscillate between control and spontaneity.
Recent work has focused on themes of compression, transition and transformation, resulting in series that examine how visual forces accumulate, collide and reorganise themselves.
Peter Hediger lives and works in Switzerland.
