Biografia
Emilija Savić, also known as EmzЕмз, is a multidisciplinary artist born in Bosnia and Herzegovina and based in the United States. Her creative practice has spanned painting, sculpture, illustration, stage design, and architecture. She began her artistic journey at the Paleta painting workshop in her hometown of Zvornik and later studied Scene Architecture, Technique, and Design in Novi Sad, Serbia, where she began developing her distinctive visual language.
After moving to the United States, Savić shifted her focus primarily to painting, illustration, and animation. EmzЕмз emerged from a need for color and reconciliation of opposites. Born at the end of the conflict in Bosnia and Herzegovina, she grew up surrounded by stories of resilience, community, and rebuilding, experiences that continue to inform her work.
Through expressive imagery and symbolic narratives, she explores themes of identity, memory, inherited trauma, and healing. Her practice is rooted in a continuous process of questioning and embracing the truths she uncovers about herself, while reflecting on the generations that came before her. Deeply inspired by childhood memories, animals, and the natural world, she creates works that balance vulnerability with strength and introspection with hope.
For Savić, art is both an act of remembrance and transformation, a way of making sense of the past while imagining new possibilities. Through her work, she invites viewers into spaces of reflection, encouraging them to reconnect with their own histories, emotions, and capacity for resilience.
