Biografia

Hamlet Cabrera is a Dominican multidisciplinary artist and creative director whose work explores the intersection of folklore, memory, mythology, and emerging technologies. His practice combines digital painting, photography, historical research, traditional printmaking processes, and artificial intelligence as creative tools to build new visual narratives rooted in Caribbean identity. His current body of work, Los Arcanos de la Casa, reimagines the structure of the Tarot through Dominican folklore, replacing European archetypes with figures such as the Ciguapa, the Bacá, Papá Liborio, Anacaona, and Taíno spiritual traditions. Rather than illustrating legends, the project seeks to recover them as living archetypes capable of speaking to contemporary audiences.

With more than twenty years of experience as a designer and visual storyteller, Cabrera approaches every image as both artwork and cultural research. His work investigates how ancient symbolic systems can be reinterpreted through contemporary visual language while preserving their historical and emotional resonance.
