Biografia

Jonathan Cortes-Rodriguez, going under the artist name of "base sixty", is a multidisciplinary artist and computational creative exploring the dynamic intersection of the digital and physical worlds. Originally from Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, he studied Architecture at Pratt Institute, where he developed a deep fascination with computational geometry, creative coding, and design algorithms.

His professional career spans sculpture, structure, architecture, and product. As a computational designer at THEVERYMANY, he guided the fabrication of complex, permanent architectural pavilions across the globe, mastering the application of code for physical making. He subsequently engineered advanced solutions for structural engineers at Thornton Tomasetti’s CORE Studio and consulted for high-profile clients at Mode Lab, consistently blending unorthodox digital workflows to turn the seemingly impossible into reality. In 2020, Jonathan founded the design consultancy Collective Exchange, through which he expanded his footprint in commissioned public arts, highlighted by a vibrant architectural facade mural in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Today, Jonathan is a Lead Computational Engineer at Nike, where he develops cutting-edge digital pipelines for accelerating the creation of product. Alongside his professional work, his ongoing artistic practice leverages algorithms to investigate the relationship between 3D topological generation and real-world fabrication, constantly uncovering new ways to bridge imagination and physical creation.
