A visceral response to the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women in Western Canada, Flavia Testa’s ink-on-paper work weaves ancient symbolic language and legendary mythos into an act of sacred preservation. At the center of the composition stands a formidable two-headed beast, its body serving as a living vessel to harbor, shelter, and protect the souls and spirits of the lost. Marked by delicate line work, skeletal motifs, and a striking palette of deep black and crimson, the piece navigates the space between brutal tragedy and spiritual guardianship—transforming raw grief into an indestructible sanctuary of memory and resistance.
