Augusto Rancilio is a French-Italian lmmaker based in London and
Switzerland, with an interest in art history, spirituality and symbolist
storytelling.
Drawing from psychoanalysis, mysticism, occult traditions and
existentialist philosophy, his work represent a quest towards the
darker corners of the human psyche, and towards the impossible
understanding of that “something” that might lie beyond our reality –
a “something” that is oen referred to as “the sacred”.
Blending tropes from horror, mystery, and poetic, transcendental
lmmaking, he prefers a slow, immersive cinematography, alternating
a high contrast black and white style with occasional colour.
Apart from lm projects, he has worked with various professional
artists, participating in the realisations of exhibitions, catalogues and
documentaries.
