Sacrification II
Tecnica: Staged digital photography, archival pigment print
Anno: 2018
Dimensioni: 41 x 60 cm
In Sacrification II, a seated female figure appears both as body and altar. Hands emerge across her back and lower body, turning touch into an ambiguous ritual of control, protection and transformation. The work draws on Lilith, a figure who refuses submission and is cast outside the established order. Here, the fragmented anatomy is not a spectacle of victimhood. It is a body negotiating its own boundaries, carrying ancestral memory while resisting the roles imposed on it. The dark field recalls the space before creation, while the green-gold skin suggests decay and rebirth at once. Sacrifice becomes psychological rather than literal: the surrender of an inherited identity so another self can emerge. The image asks whether autonomy begins when the body rejects a single, readable form and becomes multiple, mythic and self-possessed.
