The Weight of the World is an experimental short film that
that combines hand-drawn imagery, 2D animation,
photographic scans, and a layered soundscape composed of
activist recordings, news broadcasts, protests, and the artist’s
own voice, accompanied by an original musical score. The
work originates from a personal need to express, in a form that
is both delicate and incisive, the condition of the contemporary
world as experienced by younger generations.
At its core, the film explores the metaphor of light and shadow
as inseparable phases of life and of the global reality we
inhabit. Darkness embodies pain, ecological devastation, and
psychological burden, while light represents care, awareness,
and the persistent possibility of hope. This duality reflects the
lived experience of a generation that is deeply conscious of
environmental and social crises, actively engaged in protest
