Descrizione: Repetition – Material in Motion is a 6:40-minute video performance exploring repetition as a transformative process between body and material. The submitted work is the video performance; the latex wearable functions as an integral element within the performance and may additionally be exhibited as a physical artefact, but its exhibition is not required. The stated dimensions refer to the wearable.

Inspired by Søren Kierkegaard’s understanding of repetition as a movement forward rather than a return to what has been, the work investigates transformation through recurring physical action. Enclosed within a translucent latex membrane, the body enters into a continuous negotiation with the material: stretching, resisting, yielding and reshaping it through movement.
Repetition becomes almost ritualistic. Breath, heartbeat and recurring gestures create an internal rhythm in which boundaries between body and material begin to dissolve. Neither remains unchanged. The body leaves traces within the material, while the resistance of the material alters the body’s movement in return.
The performance approaches transcendence not as an escape from the physical, but as something emerging through it. Through repetition, resistance and surrender, the body enters a liminal state between control and loss of control, formation and dissolution, self and matter. Repetition -Material in Motion asks whether transformation can occur precisely at this threshold – when the familiar is repeated until it becomes something else.
