Biografia
Carmine Bellucci (Foggia, 1985) is an Italian visual artist working and living in Padua, Italy.
Graduated in Visual Arts at Istituto Europeo di Design (IED), he then attended the advanced course in Type Design at Politecnico of Milan. Deeply immersed in underground visual culture, he began his artistic career as a graffiti artist leaving his mark at street art events, both local and national.
His artistic practice revolves mainly around creating a visual alphabet, made of expressive shapes and lines, that engage with spirituality, nature and sense of belonging.
Through a personal and distinctive technique, incorporating a variety of materials and methods such as direct printing, painting, drawing and scratching, his narrative exudes a vision of a poetic and spontaneous world.
Following a constant call for the essence of things, his unique vocabulary is a synthesis of archaic symbolism and mystic narrative infused by the energy of the South. A pulsing rhythm: simple and complicated at the same time.
Influences range from ancient Mediterranean civilisations and indigenous folk art to ancient graffiti and modern visual culture. His works hover in a delicate balance between reality and imagination, consistency and uncertainty, truth and mythos, spirituality and South-Italian zestiness.
