Born in 1974, grown up, living and working in Belgium -Europe, Christopher Denys has been educated in Architecture, Contemporary Visual Arts, Natural Medecine and Psychoanalytics.

In 2011 he began a series of small drawings that has been gradually expanding ever since: images from nighttime dreams and observations in nature. Fueled by his studies in architecture and visual arts, naturopathy, psychoanalysis and Freudian dream interpretation, his visual work focuses on underexposed natural phenomena as a possible framework to understand oneself as experienced in everyday life.

Working with materials he gathered during endless travels around his country /Belgium looking for abandoned places like old factories and farms, in drawing he uses a fragile kind of paper he collected from his wanderings.

As being so fragile these drawings tend to fade and vanish over time when exposed to natural daylight. So he had to look for other options to present his artwork. To be able to make prints of his drawings was the ultimate answer to the issue of damaging daylight. On the other hand it provides the opportunity to offer his art in an affordable way. A win-win situation.

During the endless wanderings as an art student through abandoned buildings and factories, he collected the paper he still makes his drawings on. For the presentation of this series to the public, he developed “Blue–hour–drawings-project” which has been evolving since 2014. In exhibitions he presents his graphic work in wooden spaces that barely let in any light, creating the intimacy these original drawings demand. In building these wooden protective constructions he is also able to live his passion for Architecture.
