Biografia
Daniela is a Mexican-Spanish photographer, historian and visual researcher based in Mexico City.
Her practice centers on self-portraiture as a way of examining belonging, presence, and the traces a body leaves in the spaces it moves through. In the cyanotype she finds a natural language for this inquiry. The deep Prussian blue distills each self-portrait into the phantasmagorical traces of silhouettes, while the nineteenth-century process lets her hold the present and the past in a single frame and reclaim authorship over the act of making a photograph. The result is an intimate display of inner consciousness, rendering the self as both subject and shadow.
As the daughter of immigrants, she has always navigated questions of belonging, and photography became her way of documenting the realities she encounters.
She is a member of Authority Collective, The Luupe and Specto Galería, with work published in Marika Magazine, Top Posters Magazine, and ESTI Magazine. She participated in the international exhibition “Urban Poetry” at Allora Gallery.
