Danish visual artist. (b.1965). Have been working and exhibiting at galleries and museums across Europe for more than 40 years. Participant in “Portrait artist of the year” in Danish Television.(2019) -“People interest me. That´s why I paint their portraits. Whether I am at home in Denmark -or on my travels abroad. I sit down in parks or cafés and study people passing by. Often portraying them in a sketch-like form trying to catch the essence of them. I believe that every person contains infinite beauty, but also the shadow of death. I am drawn to their fragility and the “scars” a lived life puts in you. I want to celebrate the imperfections and lost dreams -the subtle light of hope in their eyes which despite earlier disappointments still tries to shine on. Lately I have tried to convey this exploration of the portrait into a more brutal and rudimentary style. I have attempted to create a certain style of “nakedness”, and perhaps honesty!”
