Biografia

Ingrid Bohigas is a Swedish-Catalan self-taught painter and Expressive Arts therapist, currently based in Spain.

About six years ago, Ingrid experienced a profound shift in the way she saw herself and the world, an experience that changed the direction of her life and led her toward a more conscious and connected way of living. Art took on a new meaning in her life, becoming an anchor for her connection to herself.

She left her career in social work, began a new path in Expressive Arts therapy, and eventually moved from her hometown of Stockholm to a family home in the Spanish countryside, a place that has been passed down through at least seven generations. There, she devotes herself to art as a way of making sense of what she experiences within.

Working primarily with acrylic on canvas, Ingrid uses the human form and elements of nature to tell stories of the inner world. Her work explores emotions and mysticism, where the boundaries between the inner and outer worlds dissolve.

Her background in Expressive Arts is an important part of her creative process. Her practice goes beyond painting, using writing, music and movement to create a deeper dialogue with the work and discover meanings and subconscious messages that emerge through the process.

Through her paintings, Ingrid wants to awaken a sense of home. A reminder that in a world of constant external searching, true wholeness can only be found within.
