Merav Cohen is an Israeli botanical artist whose work is rooted in the complete life cycle of flowers.

In her garden and studio, Cohen cultivates seasonal flowers from seed, collects and saves seeds for future seasons, and carefully presses and preserves the blooms at their peak. This ongoing cycle of sowing, growing, harvesting, preserving, and replanting forms the foundation of her artistic practice.

Working with real pressed flowers, she creates original artworks that explore themes of time, transformation, memory, and renewal. The drying process reveals unexpected details within each flower – its transparency, texture, and subtle changes in color – allowing fleeting moments of nature to be preserved and reimagined.

Inspired by the landscapes and flora of Israel, Cohen‘s work reflects a deep connection to seasonal rhythms and the continuous dialogue between growth and decay. By using the flowers themselves as both medium and subject, she invites viewers to appreciate the beauty found in every stage of life and transformation.

Cohen also created a large-scale botanical installation for the Steinhardt Museum of Natural History in Tel Aviv as part of an exhibition dedicated to pollination. The installation explored the relationships between flowers, pollinators, and biodiversity, reflecting her ongoing interest in the interconnected cycles of nature.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries, art fairs, and cultural venues, and is held in private collections in Israel and abroad.
