Biografia

Vincent Corrèze’s artistic practice revolves around painting the iconography of a humanity which is both crude and colorful. His main themes include identity, spirituality, the conscious, individuality, euphoria and sorrow. There is something inherently organic about his balance of expressive shapes, raw textures and colorful compositions while the emotional aspect is rooted in the chimerical realms of his own mind. Every detail is meant to blur the boundaries between reality and dreams: totemic faces, extravagant features, esoteric symbols and excessive colors. Vincent Corrèze is fascinated by the possibilities offered through portraiture with the body as an alternative means of expression. He aims to connect with the raw and the unrefined whose very condition of desirability resides too often in some form of distance or difference. The decadence of his work hides in the shadows of the vibrant figures he paints. His work features a natural, unprocessed almost organic sensibility. Working with formal essentials allows him to engage the emotional perception at the deepest level and establish the fundamentals of his research. He seeks to create works unbothered by any societal constraints and unspoiled by excessive rationalization or standardization.
