Sherin Siew is a Malaysian-born, Hong Kong-raised botanical artist and designer based in Oxford, UK. Through her practice, Florascopic, she uses real pressed flowers and plant specimens to investigate the hidden structures, patterns and variations of plant life.

Working primarily with locally gathered flora—sometimes grown from seed—Siew preserves plants using traditional pressing techniques before deconstructing and recomposing them. Flattening a specimen into a two-dimensional plane brings its anatomy, venation, textures and pigment gradients into clearer view. Petals and leaves become both biological evidence and compositional material, assembled into circular and geometric arrangements that invite sustained attention to the intelligence and order of plant life.

Her approach is informed by more than a decade in user experience and graphic design, and by her current study of Plant Behaviour with Dr. Radhika Desikan through the University of Oxford.

Recent recognition includes the selection of her art in IMAGINARY’s Through the Eyes of Mathematics gallery at the International Congress of Mathematicians 2026 in Philadelphia, and the inclusion of her work in the 2026 Presidential Address of the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications at the Science Museum, London.
