Descrizione: Cultura Detenida utilizes traditional Mexican embroidered shirt to frame the face of a detained women in immigration custody within the U.S.A. The contrast of the grey and vivid embroidery highlight not only the absurdity to target people because of their nationality, but also the vibrance of the Mexican culture in such a dark place like detention. The artist uses the piercing of the embroidery needle to process the grief of women and men being targeted from her community.
