Biografia

I began my career as a journalist, working in Tokyo and London, before turning to painting and novel writing. The job changed but the process did not: pay attention, report what I see. Now I work from a yurt studio in the Oregon woods, coyote, bear and mountain lion passing through, hawks overhead. My paintings still track what’s breaking and reshaping in the world around us.

My different painting series follow that thread. Dissolve Series: Finding Beauty in Dis-Integration. The Bruised Goddess series: Because the Energy of Change is Not Complacent. The Tarot Archetype series. Allegiance? series, where I paint beaten-up American flags. Now Mystic Equine, made alongside a young adult novel in progress about a feral horse and a girl who has lost her wildness.

Beyond all of this, I’ve also been a professional tarot reader for nearly three decades, and have read the tarot archetypes for about 8,000 people worldwide.

I call myself a Mystic Artist. I build work with acrylic, plaster, mixed media, mark making, solvent, whatever the piece calls for. The figures come out colorful, a little circus-like, sometimes bruised.

I’ve shown and worked in art communities on both coasts, from Western Avenue Studios near Boston to the Pacific Northwest Sculptors Association in Portland. In May 2027, I’ve accepted an Artist Residency in Assisi, Italy for two weeks, where I’ll focus on a project called: St. Francis’ Little Animals, where I’ll paint animals and channel their voices.
