Ulrike Waldbach is an Austrian painter and writer whose artistic practice focuses on drawing and watercolour.

She began her creative career in glass art, running a glassblowing studio in France where she sold her work at markets and art fairs. During this time, the painter Miguel Alcalá became her mentor and encouraged her artistic development. Today, she is an active member of the Miguel & Mité Alcalá Art Association in Roanne, France.

Living in a rural region in the western Austrian Alps, she draws constant inspiration from the ever-changing light of the seasons. The flora and fauna of the surrounding fields, forests, lakes, and mountains form the foundation of her work, with a deep interest in the cultural and historical traditions of botanical wisdom woven throughout. She often works with self-made inks and pigments, extracting colours from roots, bark, petals, and berries to deepen her connection with the natural materials that inspire her.

Alongside her paintings, she is developing an ongoing series of animal portraits that combine prints or photographs with dried and pressed flowers, mosses, mushrooms, feathers, and pieces of weathered wood collected during her daily walks in nature.
