My practice explores embroidery as a sculptural language through which material becomes a
vessel for memory, preservation, and transformation. Working primarily with textiles, beads,
metallic threads, and found objects, I create hand-embroidered sculptures that exist between
ritual object, archaeological relic, and contemporary body. Through slow, repetitive processes of
stitching, layering, and repair, I investigate how labour can preserve traces of human presence
and imbue materials with emotional and symbolic significance.
Rather than treating embroidery as surface embellishment, I use it as a method of construction,
accumulation, and transformation, allowing each work to evolve through an intuitive dialogue with
its materials. Upcycled textiles and found objects play an essential role in my practice, carrying
previous histories that become embedded within new narratives.
My work is informed by archaeology, ancient civilisations, religious iconography, and natural
forms, drawing connections between cultural heritage and contemporary experience. These
references are not reproduced literally but reinterpreted through material, texture, and form,
creating sculptures that blur the boundaries between artefact and organism, fragility and
permanence.
In recent years my practice has evolved from textile-based objects toward sculptural works that
expand the possibilities of embroidery beyond its traditional decorative function. Ultimately, I see
my practice as an ongoing investigation into how handmade objects can embody memory,
vulnerability, and resilience, offering contemporary reflections on preservation, identity, and our
enduring relationship with material culture
