Biografia

Ruth Mieth is a self-taught photographer and philosopher based in Bochum, Germany, using the camera as a counterpart to analytical thought. Since her first exhibition in Wiesbaden in 2026, her work has appeared in group shows in Osaka, Geneva, Madrid, Zurich and will be shown in Tokyo (“Layers of the Decisive Moment,” Fuji Photo Gallery, 2027). Her image “Lights and Shadows at Brandenburg Gate” earned an Honorable Mention at the Best Photography Awards 2025–26 and was selected for “The Shadow Aspect” at Praxis Photo Arts Center, USA. “Vanishing Paris” reached the finals of the Berlin Photo Awards, and “The Observers” was a Finalist at Exposure Photo Gallery’s “The Shape of a Moment.” Her first solo exhibition opens 1 September 2026 at Josef-Carree, Bochum. Her practice centres on the deconstruction of urban environments and atmospheric landscapes — capturing the moment a familiar space turns unfamiliar through fog, snow, shifting light or reflections on water. “Photography allows me to share an emotional experience without having to explain it.”
