Since 2019, my artistic practice has focused on working with historical copperplate
engravings. I draw on their recurring motifs and translate them into the present through
collage, vivid color interventions, and textual elements.
The images resist linear time: they have neither a clear beginning nor an end, nor do they
belong to a single historical moment. The questions they evoke — desire, fear, power,
faith, and longing — are timeless, returning across centuries without definitive answers.
Meaning arises through individual perspectives, shaped by personal experience and cultural
influence.
By reworking archival engravings, I bring them into a contemporary visual language while
preserving their enduring emotional intensity. The viewer completes each work through
interpretation, constructing a personal narrative informed by both what is visible and what
remains unseen. In this renewed form, the engravings reconnect past and present, allowing
their underlying passion to persist within our time.
