I am a German artist whose work moves between figurative representation and abstraction. At the centre of my artistic practice is the human being, not primarily as an external image, but as a bearer of inner states, experiences and contradictions.

My background in pedagogy and sociology, as well as my work with people has shaped my perception of different realities of life and individual stories. I am particularly interested in the discrepancy between what a person reveals to the outside world and what may remain hidden behind the visible surface. Emotions, vulnerability, pain, inner tension and transformation therefore repeatedly find their way into my work. My works emerge from emotional states and inner tensions. Colour, form, and figure develop intuitively, becoming a visual translation of what is often difficult to express in words.

In my current series “Fragmented Identity”, I explore the complexity, fluidity and dissolution of the self. Faces and, increasingly, bodies remain partly recognisable, while other areas become fragmented, lose their contours or merge into colour and their surroundings. Eyes often remain strikingly present, creating a counterpoint to the gradual dissolution of form.

I work with acrylic paint, pastels and spray paint, among other materials. My visual language combines figurative elements with expressionist and cubist inspired fragmentation, geometric structures, interrupted lines and spontaneous painterly marks.

I am not interested in classical portraiture, but rather in the question of what lies beneath the visible person and how inner states can manifest themselves through external forms.
