Biografia

For Lora Power, a journalist by profession, photography has been a way of meditation. She began experimenting with analogue photography over 20 years ago, where the process of taking images with plastic Lomo cameras evolved into an intuitive practice. In her latest series, working with cyanotype, pigments, and inks, Power embraces unpredictability and transformation as an almost poetic flow. Thus, each image becomes a dialogue between intention and chance, between the physical world and something intangible. Rather than seeking technical perfection, Power welcomes imperfections, unexpected chemical transformations, allowing each image to evolve into something unique. For Power, nature has always provided both visual inspiration and a deeper symbolic language. For the series presented here, the starting point was Monte Pirchiriano, which the artist visited at the end of summer 2026. While the collected plants from the forest around sacra San Michele can still be recognized, they are transformed through cyanotype, watercolors, and inks beyond a literal representation of the landscape, moving away from photography and towards abstraction. These images explore the possibility that nature — its vitality, resilience, and capacity for healing — can be experienced not only through sight, but also through a spiritual dimension. This process is an attempt to sense what lies beneath the visible: to translate an atmosphere, a feeling, a moment, a connection. The images invite the viewer to find their own sense of presence within them. Color plays an important role in this exploration. Its vibrant character creates an emotional, almost visceral experience. One could say that Power’s canvas is indeed her altar — a space of encounter, a form of spiritual surrender.
