Inside the viscera lie our stories. Created between successive lockdowns, this internal monologue speaks of lived experience and the blood flowing through our veins—of loss and suffering, but also of the spirit’s indomitable hope.
At the core of the composition stands the unyielding presence of a Native American (Algonquian) warrior—an ancestral symbol of survival, anti-colonial struggle, and cultural sovereignty against systemic erasure. Here, the body is no metaphor; it is a battleground. The artist’s self-diagnosis of lymphatic cancer merges directly into the medium, treating illness not as an abstract thought, but as a visceral physical reality—and art as an act of biological and existential sabotage.
This is an intimate dialogue with mortality: no surrender to the flesh, no compromise with time. Art is not passive contemplation. Art is life fighting back.
