Inspired by a tree observed on an autumn night in Berlin, One in a Million I. reflects on society as a living organism composed of countless individual lives. Each leaf represents a person – unique in shape, direction, history and fate. Together they form a larger whole, creating a sense of belonging that can be found in families, friendships, communities and fleeting encounters.

Yet the painting also raises a question: what happens when the structure that once held us together begins to disappear? The trunk and branches, symbols of shared values, institutions and social cohesion, are fading into the darkness. They no longer provide the clear support they once did. Are we witnessing a society slowly coming apart, or are the connections between individuals strong enough to sustain themselves even when the underlying framework weakens? The work deliberately leaves this question unanswered. It is both a celebration of human interconnectedness and a reflection on its growing fragility.
