Descrizione: is a photograph I took
\nwhile reflecting on the geological relationship between Iceland and the Moon. I was
\nparticularly drawn to identifying rocks such as basalt and breccia\u2014materials that are present
\non both bodies. Iceland, with its sparse and silent terrain, feels otherworldly. It\u2019s no
\ncoincidence that its landscape was used to train Apollo astronauts, offering a striking
\nanalogue for the lunar surface. The title,\u00a0Plus lourd que l\u2019air\u00a0(\u201cheavier than air\u201d), is inspired
\nby 19th-century French photographer F\u00e9lix Nadar, who took the first aerial photograph.
\nFascinated by air travel, Nadar commissioned\u00a0Le G\u00e9ant, a giant hot air balloon that
\ninfluenced Jules Verne\u2019s novels\u00a0Five Weeks in a Balloon\u00a0and\u00a0From the Earth to the Moon.
\nTogether, Nadar and Verne founded\u00a0La Soci\u00e9t\u00e9 d\u2019encouragement de la locomotion a\u00e9rienne
\nau moyen du plus lourd que l\u2019air\u2014The Society for the Encouragement of Air Travel by
\nMeans of Machines Heavier than Air. In thinking about Iceland\u2019s fiery origins and its geological connection to the Moon, I\u2019m drawn to this uncanny material bond: the Moon, a
\n\u2018floating\u2019 rock tethered to Earth by gravity, shaping our tides and, in turn, the formation of
\nbasalt. This work explores a mysterious, unknowable relationship\u2014one we can never fully
\ngrasp through observation alone. There\u2019s something profound in that not-knowing, in the vast
