Descrizione: This work was created at a time when hundreds of thousands of women were moving through Poland\u2014visible as a mass, invisible as individuals. Within a single week, over a million people crossed the border. Most of them were women, their stories dissolving into statistics, into movement, into the necessity of survival.
\nI draw on an archival image of an anonymous Ukrainian woman from the early 20th century\u2014a figure without a name, without a story, a representation of \u201cculture\u201d that has long been aestheticized, simplified, and detached from lived experience. This image repeats itself today: women once again become a collective figure\u2014the refugee, the worker, the background.
\nEmbroidery\u2014a medium associated with silence, repetition, and the private sphere\u2014is used here as a form of resistance to this anonymity. Each stitch is an act of slowing down against the urgency of history. Each line is an attempt to restore individual experience where numbers dominate.
