Death Becomes Her is a self-portrait exploring the archetype of the Death card in the tarot\u2014not as a symbol of physical death, but of transformation, surrender and rebirth.
\nIn the image, I hold a mask painted with my own skeletal face, drawing inspiration from the Mexican tradition of the Day of the Dead.
\nThe mask represents the gradual stripping away of identity, expectation and illusion, revealing the essence that remains when all external layers have fallen away.
\nThe Death card reminds us that every ending carries the seed of a beginning.
\nAlthough transitions can be uncomfortable and often ask us to grieve what we leave behind, they also open a portal to new possibilities.
\nIt is through accepting change, rather than resisting it, that we create space for renewal and growth.
\nThis work was created during a pivotal period in my own life. In 2017, I stood at the threshold of profound personal and professional transformation.
