The work revolves around the different skins we wear depending on the individuals, groups, family or contexts with which we interact every day.
Each of us is the projection of ourself and others’ perception, every single moment of our life. It explores the concept of persons as containers of personalities that we ourselves and others fill, more or less consciously and more or less voluntarily depending on the situation. From this process of double mirroring the idea of oneself and others, of self-imposed or external construction/constraint of roles and personality aspects, big cylindric heads were born. The heads can be put up-side down and used as containers for clothes and objects related to the endless skins we are asked or we ask ourself to wear, but they are also stackable and can be part of a multi-faceted totem, venerated like in a sort of grotesque social rituals of moving from one identity to another. Taking inspiration from the writings of Fernando Pessoa, who invented his multiple personalities, each identified with a specific name and specific characteristics, the totem heads were called Heteronomies. A handful of grams for a foppish cartoon drawing like smile, a light but heavy box, a protection and an obstacle at the same time.
