Chamomile

After the tragic loss of my husband, I can’t put myself back together. Reality is blurry. I don’t understand how to exist on my own.

Our story began with a bouquet of chamomiles, which he gave me. And the last flowers from him were also chamomiles. We are a flower that sheds its petals and crumbles. Who am I now, alone?

Our days are like petals blown away by a hurricane. They fly away, along with the memories that connected us. The wind scattered them. I’m trying to put them back together. How many are there?

Each petal is a step forward, every memory brings pain and warmth. From scattered particles I assemble a new me.

This is a story about loss, pain, love and attempts at recovery.
