The Leaves of Our Palm Tree is a cameraless wet cyanotype photographic project begun in the summer of 2025. I experimented with the more or less dried or damaged leaves of a palm tree, along with varying degrees of paper humidity, adding drops of water, white wine vinegar, lemon juice, sea salt, and table salt. The piece transforms before my eyes from the initial composition, through its exposure to sunlight, and with the final development, where water, vinegar, lemon, hydrogen peroxide, and a light bleaching of areas with calcium carbonate again come into play. This transformation creates a series of unexpected blue and white tones, the result of the randomness of a process that cannot be fully controlled. Like a metaphor for life itself or a reminder of the immensity of the sea and atmospheric phenomena…

The original is on 250 gsm Fabriano Mixed Media paper, A4 size. I used Jacquard sensitizing emulsion, and the sun exposure was approximately 24 hours. I present two of the pieces from the series as a poster-type printed reproduction from the scanned work.
