I’m an American artist based in Geneva, Switzerland, and I make visual work using Microsoft Excel.

I don’t use Excel for formulas or data in this context. I use the mouse as drawing tool — working with cells, shapes, colors, grids, and layers to build images manually. I like the contradiction of using something so functional and administrative to make something visual and personal.

My background is in accounting and finance, so Excel has been part of my working life for a long time. At some point, I started using it differently. The grid, the limitations, and the slightly awkward nature of the software became part of the appeal. There is structure, but also a lot of room for accident, rhythm, and intuition.

My work often sits somewhere between digital abstraction, graphic composition, and outsider art. I’m interested in how a rigid tool can be pushed into something more expressive.

My Excel-based designs have been selected for Burning Man’s annual sticker program in 2018, 2024, and 2025. I continue to explore the spreadsheet as an unexpected space for making art.
