Katja Richter Art Tecnica: Photography / multi exposure Anno: 2021 Dimensione: 30 x 60 cm Descrizione: GREENHOUSE from the series ENERGY GREENHOUSE is a work created using the classical technique of multiple exposure. The photograph is part of my ongoing series ENERGY, which explores the relationship between industrial systems and natural processes. The greenhouse depicted in this work is heated by residual energy from a neighboring lignite power plant. At night, the plants inside are illuminated with intense pink artificial light. Through the overlay of several exposures, new color spaces emerge . . . in this case, a strong, vibrant orange that did not exist in the original scene. The result is an abstract transformation of architecture and light, shifting the greenhouse from a functional structure into an energetic field. The image moves beyond documentation and becomes a visual reflection on energy, dependency, and transformation. Katja Richter Art Tecnica: Photography / multi exposure Anno: 2019 Dimensione: 20 x 30 cm Descrizione: POWER PLANT from the series ENERGY POWER PLANT is a photographic work created using the technique of multiple exposure and is part of my ongoing series ENERGY. The image depicts a lignite-fired power plant located in the region where I live . . . an area still marked by these industrial structures, many of which are scheduled to be shut down in the coming years. Rather than approaching the subject in a purely documentary way, my intention was to capture a fragment of time. In Germany, the discussion around climate change and the transition to renewable energy plays a central role in public and personal discourse. This work reflects my own engagement with these themes . . . not as a statement of accusation, but as a quiet observation of transformation, responsibility, and impermanence. The photograph stands between documentation and abstraction, preserving the presence of the power plant while allowing it to shift into a more open, contemplative image. The image is part of an ongoing series exploring abstraction in architectural photography. A school building in Cologne is reduced to planes, lines, and color fields: Green surfaces of the building intersect with the blue of the sky, while white lines trace the remaining edges of the structure. Through layered exposures, the architecture dissolves into a strict, geometric composition. The photograph moves beyond representation and focuses on form, rhythm, and spatial order. Architecture is no longer read as a functional space, but as an abstract system of color, structure, and balance. Through extreme proximity and abstraction, the botanical source becomes almost unrecognizable. The organic forms unfold into soft, velvety textures and intimate structures that evoke corporeal associations. The images move between floral fragility and erotic suggestion, subtly referencing themes of sensuality, vulnerability, and feminine identity. By transforming a natural motif into an almost bodily landscape, Richter invites viewers to confront their own perceptions and projections. The works do not impose a narrative but open a space where color, form, and association intertwine. In this context, red becomes both symbol and sensation . . . a tribute to its cultural heritage and its enduring emotional power. -

Through multiple exposure, perspectives overlap and dissolve, flattening and expanding the space at the same time.
