Beata Palikot–Borowska – a textile artist, designer, and educator, graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Łódź. For three decades, she shaped the aesthetics of the Podlaskie textile industry, designing yarn-dyed fabrics, printed textiles, rugs, and carpets. Currently, she runs her own studio, SPLOTARIUM, in Białystok—a space for experimentation, dialogue with tradition, and the promotion of weaving culture. She is a member of the Association of Polish Artists and Designers (ZPAP) and the NÓW New Craft Association, as well as a recipient of the Podlaskie Voivodeship Marshal’s Scholarship.Her work represents an ongoing quest for “new paths for weaving.” In her pieces, she combines respect for the traditional techniques of north-eastern Poland with modern sculptural forms and 3D objects. She defines weaving as a therapeutic and meditative process, where the rhythm of the warp and weft becomes a record of inner states and identity. She is deeply committed to preserving the weaving traditions developed over generations in north-eastern Poland. For her, weaving is a space for discussion and a moment to reflect on new directions for the craft, its contemporary meaning, and its references to tradition. Respect and dialogue. Weaving cannot exist without change. While creating the new, she references what has already been established. So much can be expressed by interlacing the threads of warp and weft. In 2025, she carried out a year-long art project titled “SZUFLANDIA – 365 miniatures,” which served as a woven diary of everyday life.
