Before writing is read, it can be seen. A line, a stroke, a curve or a single word can become rhythm, gesture and matter, creating a visual language that goes beyond the meaning of individual letters.
Calligraphy emerges precisely from this encounter between writing and image: it is the result of a gesture that leaves a trace, a movement that becomes form, a mark capable of telling a story even when it is not meant to be read. Between precision and spontaneity, order and freedom, tradition and experimentation, every artist can give the written sign a unique identity.
CALLIGRAPHY explores this expressive dimension of writing, inviting artists to interpret the calligraphic gesture in all its possible forms — from traditional calligraphy to contemporary practices and its intersections with painting, illustration, graphic art, photography and visual art.
Because sometimes, what matters is not what a word says, but the way it takes shape.
