In my work, I focus on the motif of “imperfect” skin, portraying a reality that is often hidden due to shame and insecurity driven by social media and conventional “ideals” of beauty. I directly work with acne and hyperbolize it, forcing viewers to look at what would otherwise remain concealed. By pulling them out of their comfort zone, I prompt a re-evaluation of how beauty is perceived. The base of the painting is created using the paper-maché technique to build a relief texture, while the paint is applied in delicate glazes to closely imitate human skin.
