“You will never truly enjoy the world until the sea flows through your veins, the sky covers you, and the stars crown you.”
My submitted poetic photographic works are inspired by the words of the English mystic Thomas Traherne. Using the technique of the oldest fine art printing process, cyanotype, complemented by embellishment with gold pen, toning with black tea and mixed media, I explore the precious and unique connection between humanity, nature, mythology and the entire cosmos.
“Lilith”, my preoccupations with both the mythological female figure and the asteroid 1181 Lilith, discovered in 1972, come together.
However, this has nothing to do with the symbolism used in mythology and astrology. There, Lilith represents the “Black Moon”, which is often associated with the mythological first wife of Adam, rebellion, independence and primal feminine power.
